by admin in Blog, Health 0 comments

Who wouldn’t love a Chihuahua? These cute little dogs make perfect pets. Their loyalty to their masters is also quite impressive. Not many dogs have the charm that a Chihuahua has which is the reason why many loves keeping them as pets. As a matter of fact, we see celebrities carrying their dogs out with them. On the other hand, other Chihuahua lovers adorn their little pets with beautiful items such as clothes and even jewelry.
With much love shown towards these dogs, it is important to note that they encounter different dangers in the open. And since we know how much you cherish that little pet of yours, we share to you the 10 Potential dangers that your Chihuahua may encounter

1. Fight with other dogs

Dog fights are common. Whether you introduced a new dog at home or walked your dog in a park, there’s a great chance for your Chihuahua to get into trouble with other dogs. The best way to solve this is to keep a close eye on your dog making sure that he/she won’t get near other dogs to prevent attacks. Remember too, that Chihuahuas are sensitive and they fight off those who are trying to get near you. It needs your constant reassurance that you have all your attention to it.

2. The Risk of other Animal Encounters

Chihuahuas are not only at risk of being gnarled by other dogs. It is important to keep a close lookout for other wild animals, too. Raccoons, cats and rats – all of them could carry rabies and you wouldn’t want your dog getting infected by that. While there are vaccines that your vet may administer to your dog to prevent this, your Chihuahua may also get into a fight with these animals which are more than twice their size.

3. Getting Out of your Gate

There are a lot of dangers when a dog gets out of your gate. The worst among this is getting hit by a car. Chihuahuas are tiny, which is the reason why it is impossible for a driver to see this dog in the middle of the street. The results of this could be fatal for your dog so always keep your gates closed to prevent your pet from leaving the house.

4. The Pool

It is always important to secure your dog and the pool area is no place for your Chihuahua to be. There are several incidents of dogs drowning on the swimming pool. Forgetting to close the pool’s gate or abandoning your dog near it may cause it to wander near the pool and later slip. And if this goes unnoticed, your pet will surely die of drowning.

5. The Garage

Another place that your Chihuahua shouldn’t be is your garage. There’s a great chance for it to be run over by your car because it is impossible to see its tiny body. Also, there are heavy tools and other equipment in your garage which may accidentally fall which may result to your dog’s death.

6. Food

Since Chihuahuas are trained dogs, they usually eat what their masters serve only. However, there are instances when even Chihuahuas will nimble on items it finds. Chocolates are not good for your pet since a certain amount consumed may be fatal for his circulatory system. Other poisonous items might later be swallowed by your dog so make sure these things are not within your dog’s reach.

7. Drinks

Just like food, it is important to check and see to it that your dog is not drinking anything poisonous or maybe the reason why it will get sick. Always leave your dog with water and refill the bowl whenever it’s empty. This will prevent your dog from drinking from sources that may be contaminated.

8. Toys

While little toys for your dog may be cute, there is also a chance for them to enjoy it a lot and later swallow small parts that may lead to choking. Make sure that the materials used for your dog’s toy is durable and there won’t be small parts that your pet will swallow.

9. Humans

Of course, the biggest threat of Chihuahuas will always be humans. There are people who might want to take your dog away from you for their own purposes. Still, some would deliberately inflict hurt to your Chihuahua just for the fun of it. So make sure you know where your pet is and leave it with someone you can trust.

10. Heights

Never leave your dog in your terrace where they may fall. Why? Because there is something we call gravity and when your dog falls from great height, the results are fatal and may result to your dog’s demise.
